Heaven and earth, now separated, will be merged in the glorious and final consummation of God’s plan. In the ultimate story, we won’t go “up” to heaven but God will come “down” to us as He restores the earth to its Eden-like glory and dwells with His people forever. The biblical imagery of the new heaven/new earth stretches our imagination to its wondrous limits, fuels immense hope, and motivates us for mission knowing God will make all things new!
