Practicing Righteousness

February 10, 2013

Jay Strother · Matthew 6:1-18

What are different motives people may have for religious activities like giving or prayer? Why do people seek public approval of their spirituality? What do you think it takes to get God’s approval? Why? Where did Jesus get the word “hypocrite?” What types of “masks” do we wear as we live out our faith? How can we “practice righteousness” with authenticity and a pure heart? How can understanding our motivation for the good things we do drive us back to the gospel? What are some ways you can be mindful of your motives as you spend time with God this week? Challenge yourself to think specifically in the areas of giving, praying, forgiving, and fasting.
