Why do earthly treasures seem to have a particular power over our lives? How can we appreciate the blessing of them without making them the center of our lives? Why is the concept of the “eye,” as Jesus uses it here, consistent with a discussion about what we value? How does our worldview affect our choices and actions? What are some of the ways that we attempt to straddle the line and serve both Jesus and “mammon/money?” Why does Jesus say this is impossible? What stuff in your life tends to pull your attention away from God the most easily? What strategies do you have in place in your life to root it out?
